The short answer is our amazing organic ingredients and our skill in formulating this product. Short answers are never fun, so to answer this question in depth I thought I would create our very first blog! I'm going to go through our healing body butters and carrier oils that we include in our renewing body butter!
Shea Butter - An Overview
Shea butter is extracted from the Night Shade tree which can be found in the west African continent. It’s origins take root in Egypt. There is literature tying Shea butter to the days of Cleopatra. The healing properties of shea butter were discovered and optimized in Africa. These days, it is very important to source sustainable fair trade Shea butter to protect the trees and those who are handcrafting it.

Recently, Shea butter has been studied or its anti-inflammatory properties as well as the ability to heal bruising and dermatitis, read the study (1)
Shea butter has high concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins that make it ideal for nourishing and softening your skin Shea butter also provides anti-inflammatory and healing properties. It's known for healing bruises and dermatitis. Using Shea butter on your body, especially your face nail and hair is shown to overtime improve the tone and texture of your skin. (1)
Cacao Butter
The next of our traditional healing ingredients is Cacao Butter, which dates back more than 3000 years. It was used for nutritional and medicinal purposes by the Myan as Inca civilizations. (2) In recent years Cacao Butter has shown to have healing components that are beneficial to skin health such as phytochemicals and antioxidants

The phytochemicals found in Cacao Butter are rich in natural plant compounds which may improve blood flow to the skin and help to slow the aging process by protecting against harmful UV rays. Cacao feels not only feels luxurious on the skin but also provides a protective barrier to hold in moisture and repair skin damage such as scars, wrinkles, and fine lines. Mango butter is an exotic butter that is light in color and smells slightly fruity. It is sourced from the middle east. Mango Butter applies to the skin lightly and provides deep nourishment without causing a greasy film on the skin. It is derived from the seeds inside of the mango fruit and it is highly used in the cosmetic industry. It is highly comparable to the healing properties of cocoa butter this is due to their similar fatty acid profile (4)

It’s a rich source of saturated fatty acids such as Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, and Oleic Acid; all aid in nourishing skin and improving elasticity. Mango Butter is also used for hair care products to seal in moisture and reduce breakage. You can use Mango Butter daily as a skin moisturizer as well as a scalp conditioner for your hair to seal in moisture and strengthen hair follicles. Sweet Almond oil is the latest craze in the skincare industry and for good reason, Sweet Almond oil works wonders on the skin and has many benefits. The use of Almonds has been said to begin as early as 4000 BC and originate from the Middle East. The oil has even gained notability in ayurvedic medicine and has been mentioned in the bible as a divine gift from God.(5)

Sweet almond oil is full of Vitamin C, E, and A; as well as monosaturated fatty acids. Vitamin E is an extremely powerful antioxidant and helps to fight away free radicals that overtime depletes the collagen of your skin. Sweet Almond Oil can also help to reduce acne and inflammation because of his vitamin A and monosaturated profile. Not only can Sweet Almond oil reduce skin inflammation but it can also improve the overall tone of your skin, for instance, it is used in the cosmetic world to lighten under-eye circles(5)
Avocado Oil
Avocado oil comes from the South American continent and has roots in Aztec and Mayan civilizations. Most oils we know are extracted from seeds or pits, but not avocado oil. Avocado oil is extracted from the pulp of avocados.(5)

The main benefits of Avocado oil are to soothe and add moisture to the skin while also not leaving a lot of greases behind. The fatty acid profile of Avocado oil makes it a perfect carrier oil to include in our body butter because it provides deep and long-lasting nourishment to extremely dry and chapped skin. Including Avocado oil into body butter will help the butter saturate deeply into the skin and provide long-lasting moisture without leaving a greasy barrier on top of the skin. (5)
Castor oil
Castor oil has origins rooted n the tropical regions of Asia and Africa. It is extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant which is one of the few major crops to have an origin in Africa. Castor oil is a very thick carrier oil that is a beautiful elixir for hair and supple skin. (5)
Healing Properties
Castor oil contains vitamin E and omega-six fats. It is highly known for its antibacterial properties which makes it a popular facial oil to help prevent acne and fight free radicals. Castor oil also helps with the reduction of hair loss and the premature greying of hairs, by fighting any scalp related issues. This helps to promote accelerated hair growth.
With its high antibacterial properties, it makes for a good eyelash serum as it prevents the growth of styes. Its antibacterial properties are one of the main reasons we included castor oil in our body butter as it really helps target damaged skin affected by eczema and psoriasis or allergy reactions.(5)

Vitamin E is an aesthetician’s dream oil as it helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles on the face while improving her overall skin condition softness and elasticity. Vitamin E is one of the most used ingredients in cosmetics. Though there are eight chemical forms in which vitamin E naturally occurs, when you see Vitamin E in your skincare items it’s almost always in the form of tocopherol.(5)
